Famous for its large fruit size, a Whitney Crabapple tree produces sweet, juicy apples that are larger than golf balls. The fruit, which is a light green-yellow with red blush or stripes, is wonderful made into jams and jellies or baked with cinnamon and sugar. They ripen by early September, and a single tree will produce them by the bushel. The tree is hardy and moderately resistant to fireblight. Although it is partially self-pollinating, it performs better when planted with another one or 2 varieties.
